C-Notches
Past roughly four inches of rear drop the axle starts hitting the frame rail, and the truck rides on its bump stops. A C-notch cuts a relief into the rail and reinforces it, giving the axle room to move.
If you are fitting a flip kit, assume you need one of these too.
